Bill Barton

One of Oregon’s most respected plaintiff’s trial lawyers, an author and teacher whose trial craft has shaped how a generation of lawyers tries cases. He made his mark early, bringing the first suit against the Boy Scouts of America to go to trial rather than settle: a landmark case that helped break open the field of psychological injury. One of his clients sued the Vatican for clergy sexual abuse.

Across 54 years of practice, he has continued to try the most difficult cases while serving on boards, writing, teaching, lecturing on trial advocacy in 35 states and five countries, and testifying as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases. Brent Barton

A native Oregonian, Harvard Law School graduate, and former state legislator, Brent is one of the most accomplished civil trial lawyers of his generation. He has litigated complex cases and argued before the Oregon Supreme Court, the Oregon Court of Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit, securing more than $175 million in verdicts and settlements.
