Individualization
Every client is a VIP
We are incredibly selective, not just because we can be, but because it means we can give complete attention and devotion to individual cases that can make a difference. Every client is a VIP. The strongest, most time-intensive relationship ensures the best possible representation and outcome.
Compassion
Empathy and compassion well beyond the norm
Because we are hyper-focused on individual cases, we exercise an empathy and compassion well beyond the norm. Given their circumstances, our clients need more than just our legal counsel. We are protecting the rights of the victim, and focus on their needs first.
Character
We inspire trust.
We inspire trust. We employ the highest of ethics and integrity. We try tough cases. Our opponents respect and admire us. They put us in another category. We are honest and forthcoming with our clients; being realistic and letting them know what to expect. We are known for an uncommon civility even in trial. We are tough, but fair.
Action
We are thinkers and doers.
The law is not static and is not a purely academic exercise. We only accept those cases we believe we can win at jury trial. We know that our experience and reputation put us in a favorable position even before we sit at the table. This is a strategic advantage, but is no substitute for our thoroughness and readiness. In analysis and preparation, no stone is left unturned.
Commitment
Start to finish, and then some.
When we are in, we are “all in.” Start to finish, and then some. We do right by the client, not what’s easiest. We are willing to roll the dice, foot the bill, shoulder the risk; whatever it takes to make the case. This commitment is not just to clients and cases, but also to the furthering of our profession.
Creativity
We are innovative and imaginative.
We test the edges and push the envelope and parameters, arguing the spirit, not just the letter, of the law. We have pioneered, and continue to put forward, novel legal concepts and interpretations. We feel this is a responsibility to better the system and society, not just a way to win cases.
Social Consciousness
We are advocates and activists.
We are both advocates and activists for our clients. We champion individual cases while also working to change public policy for the better. We are willing to do the right thing and take on the issues that aren’t popular at the moment.
Tenacity
We’re in for the long haul.
When we take a case, we’re committed. We filed Goddard v. Farmers, a wrongful death case in 1988, and ultimately prevailed 22 years later after five trials and seven appeals. That’s dedication. We were the first attorney firm ever to sue the Vatican for sexual abuse by the clergy, and brought the first case against the Boy Scouts of America that did not settle out of court, but went to trial.
